But getting that from a wood-burning fireplace is a hassle. There’s the work of laying, building, and cleaning up a wood fire. You also must clean the chimney each year to make sure it is safe.

There is a way to enjoy the comfort without all that work: Have Pitmon install a new Empire propane fireplace or fireplace insert!

We will lead you through the process step-by-step. We offer a wide range of attractive, efficient propane fireplaces in a variety of sizes and styles if you don’t have a masonry chimney.

We provide propane fireplaces or fireplace inserts, as well as the correct gas logs in the optimum size for optimal efficiency and comfort. Our gas logs are beautiful and come in a variety of wood appearances, including oak, pine, birch, and driftwood.

Vented or vent-free?

If you choose a propane fireplace insert in an existing masonry fireplace, you must decide whether to get vented or vent-free. The efficiency of the fireplace is taken into account, as well as local building regulations and the appearance of the fireplace.

Vented logs create a broad, lifelike flame that is comparable to a real wood fire. However, in order to obtain this impression, an open chimney flue or damper is necessary, and a significant amount of the generated heat escapes.

To enhance energy efficiency, the chimney flue is closed with vented gas logs. You’ll have excellent energy efficiency, but the flame isn’t as lifelike or powerful, so you won’t feel as warm. A thermostat regulates the temperature in vent-free log sets to keep the atmosphere constant. Because vent-free gas logs introduce moisture to the air, good ventilation is required to prevent mold and mildew formation.

Because vent-free gas logs produce a tiny amount of exhaust into your indoor air, they are not suitable for bedrooms or other small, closed areas like bathrooms or RVs. Vent-free gas logs are also not permitted in some local building codes. Before you buy your propane fireplace or fireplace insert, check to see whether vent-free is allowed in your community.
